Misled Balds
Misled Balds is a thrash-core punk band from Tokyo Japan. Their music is strongly influenced by Propagandhi, Bigwig and Belvedere.
The band first formed in 2005, and since then their members have changed on 3 occasions. Despite this, their music style remained unaffected. During their early years their music could be compared to old school punk, but in the last 3 years their music has matured on a more technical level. Also, unlike most Japanese bands, Misled Balds' English does not suck. This is thanks to the vocalist who spent most of his teenage years in England.
In the Japanese music scene their music stands in a category of its own and has a close-knit and dedicated fan base. Some would say their music appeals to more of a foreign taste, and the 'Balds' have gained many fans from such countries like, Italy, France, Belgium, the US and Canada. Without a doubt their foreign fan base will continue to grow from their Canadian/American tour this spring.
They are not a band to be missed!

BAD ENGINE - Book Launch.
Michael Dennis has been writing and publishing 40 years, and for the past four years has been reviewing a book of poetry every two days for his blog Today's Book of Poetry.
Now it's time to celebrate Michael's biggest and most exciting book to date — Bad Engine: New and Selected Poems, edited and introduced by Stuart Ross, hot off the Anvil Press!
Tonight, several special guests from the Ottawa poetry community — including Sandra Ridley, Stephen Brockwell and Pearl Pirie — will be reading Michael's poems before Michael himself takes the floor.
The evening will be hosted by Michael's long-time friend and collaborator Stuart Ross.
Books will be for sale. Astonishing conversation will occur. There will be laughs and maybe even tears. And all in the beautifully eccentric coziness of the Avant Garde Bar, whose food and drink menu is an event in itself.
Please join us!
